What is an Arya Samaj Mandir marriage?

An Arya Samaj marriage is a simple Vedic ceremony performed at an Arya Samaj Mandir, based on the reform principles of Maharshi Dayanand Saraswati. Instead of elaborate, expensive rituals, the wedding is solemnised through a havan and the seven vows of saptapadi, with mantras explained in plain Hindi so the couple understands every promise they make.

Because the Arya Samaj rejects caste and dowry, it has long been the preferred route for inter-caste, love and runaway couples in Delhi who want a dignified, fast and affordable wedding. The mandir issues an Arya Samaj marriage certificate the same day. To turn this into full government proof, the marriage is then registered at the SDM office under the Hindu Marriage Act 1955 — and that is the part most couples find confusing, which is exactly where our Delhi team takes over.

Arya Samaj marriage vs court marriage

Couples in Delhi often ask which route is faster. An Arya Samaj marriage is a religious Vedic ceremony solemnised the same day, after which you register at the SDM under the Hindu Marriage Act 1955. A court marriage under the Special Marriage Act 1954 involves no ceremony but requires a 30-day public notice before the certificate is issued.

If you and your partner are both Hindu, Sikh, Jain or Buddhist and want to marry quickly, the Arya Samaj route is usually faster. If either partner is of a different religion and neither wishes to undergo shuddhi, the Special Marriage Act court route is the appropriate path. Not sure which fits you? FAQ

Arya Samaj marriage Delhi — common questions

Is an Arya Samaj marriage legally valid in Delhi?

Yes. It is valid under the Arya Samaj Marriage Validation Act 1937 and recognised under the Hindu Marriage Act 1955. For full legal proof — needed for visa, passport, bank and property — register it at the SDM office to get the government marriage certificate.

Can we marry the same day?

Yes. With complete documents the vivah ceremony and Arya Samaj certificate are usually completed the same day. There is no 30-day waiting period like the Special Marriage Act.

Is inter-caste and love marriage allowed?

Absolutely. The Arya Samaj opposes caste discrimination, so inter-caste and love couples are welcomed. Inter-religion couples usually complete a simple shuddhi before the ceremony.

What is the minimum age?

The groom must be 21 and the bride 18, the same as under the Hindu Marriage Act. Both must be unmarried, of sound mind, and marrying of their own free will.

Do I still need SDM registration after the mandir?

The Arya Samaj certificate proves the ceremony happened, but most government and visa authorities ask for the SDM-registered certificate under HMA 1955. We strongly recommend completing it, and we handle the full filing for you.

How much does it cost?

Our assisted packages in Delhi start at ₹4,999 for the ceremony, ₹8,999 for ceremony plus SDM registration, and ₹14,999 for inter-religion or NRI cases.
